Honda Acty vs Suzuki Carry: which should you buy?
These are the two most community-supported kei trucks in the US -- but they take genuinely different approaches to the same job. The Carry leans on scale and simplicity; the Acty leans on layout and feel. Here is how they actually compare.
Honda Acty
- Layout
- Mid-engine, RWD/4WD
- Notable trim
- Attack (locking diff)
- Known for
- Community & feel
Suzuki Carry
- Engine
- F6A / K6A, 660cc
- Power
- 40 - 64 hp
- Known for
- Parts & resale
Where the Acty wins
- Mid/rear-engine layout gives noticeably better weight balance and a quieter, cooler cabin than front-mounted competitors
- The “Attack” trim includes a locking rear differential -- a feature no other kei truck offers -- for serious traction on mud, snow, or loose gravel
- Largest and most active US owner community of any kei truck model, which makes troubleshooting easier even where parts are harder to find
- Strong all-round daily driver, not just a work truck
Where the Carry wins
- Widest parts availability of any kei truck in the US, helped by shared components with later Suzuki models
- Largest population imported, so more independent mechanics have direct experience with one
- Lightweight and capable off-road, with 4WD available at all speeds on DD trims
- Stronger resale value if you plan to sell down the line
Our take
If parts sourcing and resale are your priority -- especially if you are far from a specialist importer -- the Carry is the lower-risk choice, purely on scale. If you care more about how the truck actually drives day to day, want the locking differential the Attack trim offers, or value being able to lean on an active owner community when something needs fixing, the Acty is genuinely worth the trade-off. Both are proven trucks; this comes down to what you value more, not which one is objectively better.
